Murfreesboro’s Can’t-Miss Events: Special Kids Race and Mardi Paws

One of the best parts of being a Little Guy is engaging with the community. We care about the cities in which we live and work, and we love having the opportunity to volunteer our time and manpower for local causes. Our Murfreesboro location has two exciting events coming up that you won’t want to miss! First, Little Guys Movers is sponsoring the Mardi Paws Gala for Purple Paws. Then in March, we’ll be helping with the setup and tear down of the racecourse for the Special Kids Race. Read more about the events below:

Mardi Paws Gala — February 29

The Mardi Paws Gala is an annual fundraiser for Purple Paws, an organization that raises money for local animal rescues and spay and neuter programs in Middle Tennessee. Branch Manager John Manning is the President of Purple Paws and helps plan this event that features dinner, wine, custom-brewed thematic beer from the Mid-State Brewsters, cocktails, a scavenger hunt, a wine pull, music, and a photo booth. It’s a party you definitely don’t want to miss!

Little Guys is one of the sponsors for the event, and we help set up and tear down all the furniture and decor that make the gala look great. Little Guys Movers is a company built by animal lovers, so working with Purple Paws is a natural fit. We think John said it best: “They love animals; we love animals. They like to party; we like to party. It only makes sense to be a part of it.”

The Mardi Paws Gala takes place February 29, 2020 at 6 PM at The Grove at Williamson Place. To learn more about the Mardi Paws Gala and get your ticket, visit the Facebook Event Page.

The Special Kids Race — March 7

The Special Kids Race is an event that raises funds for Special Kids, a therapy and nursing center for children with special needs. Special Kids offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, feeding therapy, nursing services, recreational therapy, speech therapy, a peer-modeling program, and a summer day camp for kids ages birth- to 21. Since 1998, Special Kids has served over 5,000 children in Tennessee.

Every year, runners, joggers, and walkers can take part in the Special Kids race. The race includes 15K, 10K, 5K, and 1-mile options. John Manning is the Logistics Chair of the event, and the whole Murfreesboro team loves getting to pitch in.

“We love being a part of the Special Kids Race,” says Manning. “Not only does the organization do amazing work, but the 5, 10, and 15k race has become the premier race in Murfreesboro, and it’s awesome to be a part of it.”

The Special Kids Race takes place March 7, 2020 at 7 AM at the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic & SurgiCenter. To learn more about Special Kids and register for the race, visit specialkidsrace.org.
