Will Moving Companies Move Plants?

Whether you have a few houseplants or your home is practically a jungle, you know that growing plants takes lots of time and care. So it makes sense that when you’re ready to move, you want to take your little green babies with you.

But how do you move plants safely? Will moving companies move plants for you? Well, that depends.

If you’re moving locally, many moving companies (Little Guys Movers included) will happily load up your plants and get them settled into your new home.

If you’re moving long distance, however, things can get tricky. Many moving companies will move plants long distance or out of state, but that may not be the best option. Depending on the type of plant, it may need to be consistently watered or be kept within a specific temperature range, and these things are difficult to guarantee when they are in the back of a moving truck. Your heartiest plants may do well, but for anything finicky, it’s probably best to have it travel with you instead.

Another thing to consider is your plant pots. Ceramic pots are more likely to break during a move, so they require special care. It’s best to keep smaller ceramic potted plants with you, then ask your moving company to wrap up your larger ceramic potted plants in extra bubble wrap to ensure they make it to your new space safe and sound.

Finally, remember to look into local restrictions if you’re moving out of state. Some states have strict laws about what plants can come across state lines, or they may require an inspection to ensure your plants aren’t diseased.

So will moving companies move plants? The short answer is yes, but be sure to consider what your plant needs to decide if that’s the best option for you. The last thing you want is your plants dying on you as soon as you’re settling into your new home!
