The printing press is considered one of the greatest inventions in history. But we’ll be honest — it’s not something we normally spend much time thinking about.
That is, until we received a call asking us to move an 800 lb printing press for a local business.
This is just the kind of challenge we love at Little Guys Movers. Specialty items like safes, pool tables, pianos — and printing presses — require lots of strategizing and equipment to move safely and effectively.
For this job, we knew we were going to have to do an onsite visit before we could provide an accurate quote. With something this heavy, seeing the terrain and the item itself is necessary to create a game plan and figure out what we need. We determined we could move the printing press with just four Little Guys as long as we had the right equipment.
We measured the printing press to be certain it would even fit on our liftgate and in our truck. It did, but barely! Measuring stuff like this ahead of time ensures we don’t show up on moving day and find we’ve bitten off more than we can chew. (So if you ever need something like this moved, don’t trust a moving company that doesn’t take the time to double check they can actually move it.)
The business actually owns a forklift, so they helped us get the printing press onto the truck at the pickup location. At the dropoff location, we were on our own. But since we had the right team, the right equipment, and the right strategy, it was easy peasy.
