If you’ve been around here awhile, you know that giving back is a big deal at Little Guys Movers. All of our locations volunteer their time and skills to local charities every year. One of our favorites to work with in Raleigh? Move For Hunger.
Move For Hunger is an organization that works with moving companies around the country to pick up and deliver food for those in need. Many people throw out food when they move, and instead of it all going to waste, Move For Hunger ensures it goes to people who can benefit from it.
Little Guys Movers has been volunteering with Move For Hunger for longer than we can remember! “I have been here since the summer of 2018, and we were working with Move For Hunger for years before I even started,” says Raleigh Branch Manager Charlie Smith. “When I took over as manager in 2020, I made a point to say ‘yes’ every time they ask us to help with a pickup, no matter how small.”
As a moving company, we have the resources to make these deliveries efficient and simple for all parties involved, even for those on a super large scale. We do large pickups from 5-8 local apartment complexes about four times each year, as well as smaller pickups throughout the year. The food is donated to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina to be distributed to our community.
“Being an engaged and giving member of the community is at the core of being a Little Guy,” says Charlie. “We have helped to deliver thousands and thousands of pounds of food to Move For Hunger, which provides many more thousands of meals to those in need. It is our duty to say yes when the opportunity arises and we are honored to be involved!”
If you’re moving with us and want to donate to Move For Hunger, just set your food donation aside for us to pick up during your move. If you aren’t moving with us soon but have food to donate, give us a call! We’ll set up a time for you to drop off donations at the office.
