Every year, tons of perfectly good furniture ends up in the landfill. What if that furniture could be used to benefit the community instead?
That’s exactly the thought that led Susan Windgate to create Chair Table Home. Chair Table Home is an organization that takes pre-owned furniture and distributes it to people in need, like formerly homeless individuals and families who have recently acquired housing. This Saturday, July 18, Chair Table Home will be at the City of Fort Collins Timberline Recycling Center to collect gently used furniture, and the Little Guys Movers Fort Collins crew is volunteering their time to unload furniture donations and load them onto their moving truck. The Little Guys will then drop off the items locally for Chair Table Home to distribute.
“Little Guys Movers always wants to really help people who really need help,” says Branch Manager JD Patton. “This event is important to us because it’s community involvement that does exactly that.”
The Details
When: Saturday, July 18, 2020, 9 AM – 12 PM
Where: Hard-to-Recycle Materials Yard at the Timberline Recycling Center, 1903 S. Timberline Rd
What Can Be Donated?
Chair Table Home is accepting the following items, in usable condition with minor repair:
- Small dressers (2 – 3 drawers)
- Small dining/kitchen tables
- Dining/kitchen chairs
- Small tables (end tables, coffee tables, nightstands)
- Small bookcases (3 – 4 shelf)
- Pictures, art, other home décor
- Towels
- Dishware and silverware
The following items will NOT be accepted:
- Refrigerators and other large appliances
- Beds, futons, and mattresses
- Sheets, comforters, pillows, and any other bedding
- Couches, armchairs, and love seats
A Note About Safety
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fort Collins City Staff has provided some procedures and guidelines to maintain the safety of the public, staff, and volunteers. If you’re donating items, stay in your vehicle at all times. The event staff will unload your donations for you! Face coverings or masks are required, and please refrain from attending if you or anyone in your household are exhibiting symptoms of illness.
