Brit Allen has been with us for a few years now, and she helped us create this new role that’s designed to help our customers with their long distance moves every step of the way.
As our first National Moving Consultant, you’re breaking new ground! Could you describe your role and what you do for LGM?
As a National Moving Consultant, I handle estimates, scheduling, and organizing for moves for eight Little Guys locations across the nation. My duties range from coordinating long distance moves, to general estimates, to auditing, to acting as a virtual office assistant to stores when needed.
How did you join Little Guys Movers, and what was your path to this role?
I was hired on as an office assistant at the Denton location in January of 2019. I was familiar with the company and the culture prior to truly joining the Little Guys family, so to say I was excited is an understatement. A few of my friends were employees at the time, and I was a bartender for many Little Guys over the years.
I worked as an office assistant for about a year and a half. Once I learned the ropes, I was promoted to the Assistant Operations Director position. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working at the Denton location, but in the Summer of 2022, I decided to uproot my life and move to Chicago! With a broken heart, I was going to quit Little Guys upon moving, but luckily…I was offered a remote position working as the National Moving Consultant!
How do customers benefit from the addition of a National Moving Consultant?
I believe my role is beneficial to our customers because I can assist them with cross-country moves, local moves, loading/unloading quotes, and beyond. With my knowledge, I can help customers determine the best option to get themselves moved. I can offer guidance and options that will best fit our customers’ needs.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of the job is helping ease the pain of moving for our customers. It’s nice to be able to guide people during one of the most taxing life events that we go through.
What is the most challenging part of your job?
The most challenging part of my job is navigating moves that may be particularly stressful, such as last minute moves or moves caused by an upsetting life event. It’s important to employ patience and empathy in this role to help people who are going through difficult situations.
