The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) protects consumers of interstate moves and defines the rights and responsibilities of consumers and movers. This booklet is to provide information about your rights and responsibilities as an individual planning for or undergoing a move — primarily, that you understand the terms and conditions of the moving contract (AKA “bill of lading”), and that you know what to do in case problems arise.
