Client Testimony

  • "I didn't get a chance to email sooner and tell you what a great job your guys did on our move on Sept. 24. They were awesome and I was so pleased with the job they did. Most often people call or email and tell you about the bad things, but I wanted to tell you some good news. You are doing a great job and if we ever move again, I will definitely use you again. Thanks so much!"

Coverage

(we can't call it insurance, but it's almost the same)

RCP (Replacement Cost Protection):

We, as movers, are not licensed to sell "insurance," so the insurance industry has come up with a product called "Replacement Cost Protection." Carriers and moving companies (such as ourselves) pay a yearly premium for this coverage and then sell it as needed to our customers. It works this way: a customer declares the "value" in cash of their goods and, for a premium, we agree to be liable for the shipment, up to a maximum of that amount, in the event they are damaged, (considering depreciation). The cost for this option through Little Guys Movers is $7.00 - $8.00 per $1.000.00 (rates vary slightly by location / state) of declared value.

Example: A customer declares that their total goods are worth $20,000 to replace. If Little Guys Movers sells coverage at $8.00 per $1,000.00 of declared value, the math follows that 20 X 8 = $160. Therefore, $160 would be added to the bill, and the customer is "fully covered."

$.60 Per Pound

There is no extra charge for this option, you will be asked to initial that you are releasing the shipment with this level of liability before the job begins. If you choose this option then the carrier/mover is only liable for .60 cents per pound per article. The insurance company uses the "Uniform Table of Weights" to determine the weight of any given item. For example, a color T.V. 25" or larger is 180 lbs. If the cost of repairing an item would be cheaper than paying out .60 cents per pound for it, then the carrier/ mover has that right. In other words, for a 180-pound T.V. you could only expect to receive a maximum of $108.00, if it were damaged beyond repair in the move. If the carrier/mover could get it fixed for $45.00 he would surely choose that option.
